Marketing Trends for 2023

As we sink back into our office chairs after a well earnt Christmas break, we’re thinking about the year ahead and the marketing trends that we expect to see in 2023. As marketers, we’re used to adapting to ever evolving marketing trends, so it comes as no surprise to us when we see new e-commerce tools, social media updates and emerging market's influence within the digital marketing industry. Looking ahead we’re really excited about what 2023 has in store for us as marketers, as well as our clients. Here are some trends we’re highlighting for 2023:

Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing took 2022 by storm (as we predicted in our blog this time last year!), and we’re super excited to see how it continues to develop even further in 2023. As a digital marketing agency, we’ve been working more closely with influencers in the past year, across a variety of industries and we’re here for it! If you’ve only just stumbled across influencer marketing, where have you been hiding? Essentially, influencer marketing is a current version of word-of-mouth advertising. With the rapid rise of social media, influencers have never been more accessible. If you're wanting increased brand awareness and increased consumer trust, or to reach a larger target audience and generate more leads, influencer marketing could be a great option for you and your brand.

If you love a stat like us, take a look at this report by HubSpot which has some really interesting statistics about influencer marketing after surveying more than 1,000 global marketing professionals.

Short Form Video

In 2022, it felt a little bit like video started to take over on social media - which is totally what happened! We saw Instagram favouring content in video format in a bid to compete against TikTok and we’re pretty sure it’s not going anywhere in 2023. TikTok and Youtube Shorts have over 1.5 billion users... If that's not enough to encourage you to incorporate video into your marketing strategy, then we don’t know what will. If you’re still feeling a little bit daunted by the introduction of video across your social media platforms, get in touch with us to find out how we can help you in this area.

Although we anticipate further growth in short-form video, let's not forget about live streaming and the power of this tool - when paired with influencer marketing, it can be an effective way to increase your brand's awareness and credibility.

Voice Search

With more and more people using voice assistants such as Amazon’s Echo or Google Assistant to find out short, general information, voice search is predicted to become a leading search method in coming years. We’re expecting to see more businesses in 2023 optimising their content for voice search, enabling them to reach their target audiences more efficiently and effectively with up-to-date information.

Interactive Marketing

We’re talking about all the different ways that you can engage with your target audience through interactive features online. This is a strategy that sees more and more brands using interactive elements such as games, quizzes and polls in their online content, in a bid to really capture the attention of users for a memorable experience. At the same time, businesses can collect valuable data and insights about their audience, all of which are bound to help when developing marketing plans and strategies going forward.

Selling on social media

In 2023, we’re expecting to see a real focus on brands using their social media platforms to sell their products and services (if they aren’t already!). With Facebook and Instagram both having their own shopping feature, it was only a matter of time before TikTok followed suit as consumers are seemingly more willing to explore new shopping channels. Social Media Today has predicted that live shopping on Instagram will be announced in 2023, so we’re keeping an eye out for that one too. If you’re not taking advantage of social commerce already, 2023 really is the time to jump on the bandwagon!

Personalisation

As marketers, we’re expecting brands to take advantage of the use of personalisation more than ever within their marketing strategies. With the ability for businesses to collect high levels of data and insights into their consumers, brands can really hone in on this which can help a customer feel connected to your business. When it comes to personalisation, small changes can be really effective. Starting with personalised email campaigns is a good place to start!

All in all, 2023 is set to be a very interesting and exciting year for marketing. As marketers, we’re excited to see what else 2023 has in store for us and how we can assist our clients in keeping up to date with emerging trends that are relevant to their business. If you would like advice on how to kickstart your marketing goals in 2023, get in touch to see how we can help you today!
